Where can I get a nice knob for my pre-amp with a push on D-shaft? I bought one with a grub screw but it just aint working >.< RS search facility is useless, they probably have lots of d-shaft knobs but the description does not specify that too clearly.

As much as I appreciate the offer, it seems a shame to dismantle it for a knob which would not really suit my pre-amp. I was thinking along the lines of a nice aluminium knob.

some wooden door/cupboard door nobs work well use a little epoxy to make the flat section of the shaft.

If you have anymore trouble with it, get a grub screw sized drill bit and drill a small hole into the pot shaft. Only needs to be 1-2mm. Should keep things locked up nicely.

I did actually try putting epoxy (araldite) in the knob to make the flat bit but it just wasn't hard enough and worked loose after while.

Whilst I'm here, does anybody know where I can get cheap metal grill sheets?
It's for my Bass cab. Needs to be quite large as the cab houses 2 x 15" HH drivers.

I have seen variuos sheets of pressed steel grill type material in B&Q and Sainsburys Homebase. I bought some a while a go for the Sub in my car. £5ish for A2 size as I recall.

Tenson - If you are still looking for your knob (snigger) I am going to Maplins in Farnborough later this week. If you let me know what you want, I'm happy to check it out for you.
