Anyone got any good ideas for names for cables?

We've become stuck for our 5 pin Din derivatives.

So now is the chance for fans (so obviously we can't do it :D ) of the kit that requires 5 pin Dins to come think up with some names.

Some of the suggestions we've had in house so far are:

    1) Jackhammer.
    2) Shepherd. ;)
    3) You've got some hope haven't you sunshine?
    4) Decoder.
    5) Unscrambler.

Obviously we can't seem to take it seriously ... so we thought we'd throw the floor open. Any ideas? ;)

    Cheers

Maybe you could name them after DJ's because they're keepers of the beat and like to dabble in re-mixes every now and then. :)

Extending one of the themes you thought of already, how about the 'Ovinae' series?

    erm
if im right, you have some named after battle ships (digital) and the others after planes (analogue)

So why not another military vehicle theme
tanks (Crusader, Sherman, Matilda etc), Missile (Rapier Exocet ....)

    Edit --
quick search pulled some abstract missile names from india + argentina

    Agni
    Alacran
    Condor
    Mushak
    Nodong (Like that!)
    Prithvi
    Spanker

    Loads more........................

Yes getting better, but these are really 'do naim' the naim way, without the inner ear wax removal, they work well.
Were not neccessary looking to follow a current theme, there will be 3 cables 2 I/c's 1 power, you coyld even give them a series of there own, and lets get those creative juices flowing guys, and the 'parryator' isn't what were looking for :) Wm

We thought of a theme of makes of hammer drill.

But that was superceeded by the names of shears.

Then we were thinking of things that take something and absolutely transform it.

Applying this to the kit, led to the Din derivatives becoming:
sterilizer, pacifier, tamer and negotiator ;) . No only joking, the idea is that they build on what people like about them, move them towards what we think they should already be like (we may never sell any of course!! ;) ).

Sticking to themes, and that cable tweeking these systems was likened to us by someone who likes them even less than we do by "sticking an elastoplast on a leaking nuclear reactor", or the one we preferred "sticking tractor tyres on a hamster to turn it into an offroader" we then gave up.

    Cheers

Maybe you could naim them after deserts. They are pretty unforgiving and hostile places, but with the allure of adventure, danger and pots of gold.

    Chihuahuan
    Sonoran
    Mojave
    Utah
    Montana
    Atacama
    Sahara
    Danakil
    Ogaden
    Nubian
    Chalbi
    Kalahari
    Namib
    Gobi
    Thar
    Arabian
    Tanami

    etc
    etc

You're onto something there, Tone. How about monsters from the Dr Who series; or even the names of the actors who played Dr Who himself...
