    Hello all,

Does anyone know where I can get an old amp which is quite powerful 50W+ for less than about £15+p&p

Sound quality isn't an issue, it is to test the speakers I am repairing and obviously I don't want to risk blowing the Rotel so could do with something expendable.

Have seen these but I don't think they will be powerful enough:

Just add a suitably high power resistor in the speaker cable. Something like a 50W 4.7 ohm at the speaker end of the wire. You will lose about 4 - 8dB, and the response will be non-flat, but your amp will be safe. Unless you are changing crossover values, I can't see the problem. Any healthy driver should have a DC resistance with a multimeter across its unconnected terminals of about 2/3 of it's rated impedance.
