i might have the chance to buy a shearne phase 2 for £200
this would replace the audiolab (wich ill need to repair otherwise)

    any experiance of the phase2?

and does it have a MC stage?

    Penance,

I would say that at 200 quid that is a bargain mate. I have only heard them at shows and from memory they have a non fatiguing musical sound which I was impressed with. The always seemed to get good reviews mags such as hifi world.

I would give it a go.

Cookie, that Accuphase is a beauty. Shame I have no use for it...

    oh wow,

dont you love those VU meters and big gold knobs?

all it needs is an oscilliscope like the marantz tuner, and it'd be perfect!!

(I wish there was more stuff made like this.... death to the black box!!!!)

....just had another look at it, you can attach up to five pairs of speakers for multiroom installations!! how cool is that?
..two tape inputs... and what looks like an input with variable gain, handy for attenuating over zealous CDPS!

I think someone got a bargain for £300

My GOD - that's one hell of an amp - how old is the design (it looks like something from the late 70s, but I didn't think Accuphase had been around that long?)...

ALL preamps should have the mono/stereo/stereo reverse control on them - it's a real PITA when you get a DVD or VHS tape where the stereo channels are reversed - like every copy of The Hitcher on VHS I've ever owned....
