Shame. Any ideas who'll be in as replacement ?

You'd better pray it's not Shearer (talk about abuse of player power  ) !

According to Alan Brazil, and Mick Martin (when he was interviewed this morning on Talksport) the person has already been lined up and was approached shortley after the Norwich game. Neither would say who it was but Shearer/Beardsley/Gascoigne  was mentioned along with the other usual candidates, O'Neil.Hoddle/Houllier etc etc
Personally I hope O'Neil but we will see.....

I reckon a good bet would be Gordon Strachan. Don't think it'll be Shearer or it would have been announced already. I liked Robson, was an honest bloke. He may take on Southampton, he'll want to prove a point I'm sure.
Surely they won't go for Houllier

O'Neill's wife is very ill, he's planning a sabbatical, so I'd lay good odds it won't be him. Thought for a minute or two about Venables, but he might not come back into management after the way Leeds treated him. Moyes and Coleman are two young talented managers who may get their heads turned, and don't forget the barcodes like to keep it a geordie family, so they will have a look at Bruce.

Wee Gordy Strachan would be a good bet.

The Sun ( :chunder: ) is going for Sam Allardyce.

I dont know who I would want to replace Robson TBH. Not keen on some of the names being put forward so far. O'Neill would be my choice, but I dont think its to be.

I feel sorry for Robson in a way, but he had to go (although he should have gone at the end of last season really). It does not look like we'll get a much needed defender today as nobody wants to come to the toon at the minute. I still think we have a fairly strong squad (except in the defence) and we should stay up, but unfortunately I dont think I could rule out Newcastle doing a "Leeds" at this point. I hope not though.

You really are too good to go down. Leeds sold too many players they couldn't replace, and expected Venables. Reid and Wilkinson to work miracles with the vastly weakened squad they had. You really do need a big centre half, but as you say there's no-one there to spend it. Freddy Shephards timing leaves a lot to be desired

If he ended up here at Southampton that would be great, but I can't see it happening. I reckon he's more likely to take some behind the scenes job at Newcastle, but we'll see.

You're apparantly after Bobo! No chance! Why would he (or O'Neil) possibly leave Celtic for a wee club like Newcastle?

He wants to manage. I suspect he'll be too proud to stay with the toon. Southampton would suit him down to the ground

I think Newcastle could find it very tough to get a new manager quickly. The likes of Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce are tied down on long term contracts and may well view their current situations as being better than going to Newcastle, with no ability to improve the squad until January, they have squads they've built and should look to continue their works in progress.

I think it'll probably be offered to Shearer, maybe with someone else to help him out, Glenn Hoddle perhaps? Gerard Houllier would be a good choice! Failing that, how about Paul Sturrock, he's after a job.

It's Graeme Souness. Not even in your wildest dreams, eh?

Of course as a Burnley fan I'm desperately concerned about who will take over at the Rovers.

So that's Newcastle and Blackburn we'll be playing next year. :D :D :D
