I'm using a Creek OBH 8SE & power supply 2,on a Rega P25 and have been happy with the results, very musical, should be around £100 S/H.You could also add the Graham Slee amp2SE,which are around £180,which are also very good.

I use a White Noise phono stage with my Sugden A21a. It comes as a kit, dead easy to build and sounds great. It can be put together in half a day and is very professional. Total cost including power supply was about £160, a bargain.

Audioconsultants have a Trigon Vanguard stage for £150 second hand. I used to use one with my A21a and it was a wonderful combo. They also sell them new at Walrus for £300.

The White Noise kit does require soldering ability but you will not need a torque spanner!
It can be set up for moving coil or mm cartridges.
It is fun to build and can be upgraded to a super high quality level though now mine has burnt in I am in no rush to upgrade. It certainly leaves the sugdens inbuilt stage way behind. Sugden are actually bringing out a phono stage later this year and think it will be about £600.

I think the Creek is a very sensible choice, I would make that the most you spend unless you are planning to upgrade the Rega at some time.

I heard a cheap Project phono stage not long ago which was very good for very little money.

I have decided on a Project SE,so that I can pump the money into getting a s/h Sugden A21a.I want the line only amp so i can upgrade the tt and stage later,at the moment i think the Project will be fine with a Planar3,because i dont listen to vinyl a lot.Hopefully picking up the Sugden this weekend, dunno yet
