Possible hardware issues with Squeezebox2?

There is a current thread at AudioAsylum about a guy who has some issues with the Sqeezebox2, his digital outputs dont work unless he connects/loads the analogue outputs.

How peculiar - my optical out works fine alone. I got it about a week ago. MAC address 00042005A25E

mine works just fine. i've got a few issues with the new version of slimserver which very occasionally drops out, has crashed once and is slow to scan my main music directories but none are deal breakers. he should send it back to where he bought it from - or straight back to slim deviced i'm sure they guys there would love to know what is going on (although i'd suspect ground problems).
