my telly started to flikker a few mins ago then this loud buzzing came from my hi fi speakers.
the telly isent plugged into the hi fi , the hi fi isent even plugged into the same mains socket , its in a socket on the other side of the room.
there is no connection between the telly and the hi fi at all exept their both plugged into the mains.
then it just went back to normal.
have i had a close encounter?

Na but you might had encountered a powersupply problem to the TV screen.

I had the self same problem.

The TV made a hideous noise out the speakers, then game over the screen power supply need replacing.

It made these noises on and off up until the screen dying.

bugger , my poor poor telly.
its been giving signs of caving in a lot this past while , the sound keeps switching on and off. i thought it was due to there being no aireal , well just a small one that plugs into the mains.... wonder if its that that could be knakkered.
the picture is crapp n all but i kinow thats down to the aireal.

you know , the amp was switched on at the time so it could have been some sort of spike. very good sir , perhaps my telly is ok afterall.
none of the lights flikkered though and their all plugged into the mains.
aliens i tell ya , aliens living in my telly...

the way my speakers were buzzing i need a new amp.
thats never happened to me before and it did scare me.
whats the cheapest way to stop this from happening again , do i really have to fork out for a mains conditioner?

no , my mobile stays lit for an hour and then the battery dies , its hardly a mobile phone , more of a portable phone , i think it needs a new battery but then again i may just need a new phone.

Definately sounds like a dodgy PSU in your telly, it will have been either interfering with your amplifier down the power lines ( more probable) or via airborne RFI. I wouldn't leave your telly on un-attended either, not even on stby, always turn off at the wall as it sound well dodgy.

I once owned a Pro-Ject TT that had a dodgy motor, it would sometimes stick just before start up and boy did it make an electrical racket through my speakers !

I should point out when my teles powersupply finally went, well lets just I am glad I was there to deal with the situation, quite a bit of smoke and stuff LOL.

Luckily the Loewe has some sort of fail safe and went straight into standby, with my hot on the heels of the fuse box!

I suggest you get it checked out, it cost about 80quid to sort mine.
