I'm currently running a crappy portable system in my workshop but it's time to fiddle

If anyone has a system that would do the job then let me know.

    either:
    - a one box midi/mini thing, or

    - a tuner/amp/speakers

Appearance utterly unimportant. Individual amps/tuners/speakers consdiered. The main source is the radio so if you've got a system with a bust CD player I'll have that off you.

    What have you?

You could try the cheaper Grundig Opus DAB radio, sounds pretty good for £50 and reception is as good as you would expect.

I want a bigger sound than a one-box job though. That's what I've got now.

I'm tempted to go four speakers actually, one in each corner. It's not hifi but it'll rock.

You could try and get an old receiver (I bought an old B&O for £20 a few weeks ago) with 2 speaker outputs then.

The really vintage stuff seems to be cheap on ebay at the moment and will probably last longer in a garage

    Try www.klassic.com as well

the tivoli can be upgraded with a 2nd speaker for stereo and an additional sub too for some 'clout' there is eve na cd player available in the same style.
just a thought. if you want an all in one then dennon's mini system with the mission speakers is generally thought to be the best - where's cookiemonster when you need him.
    cheers

How much do you want to spend? I've got a Linn Intek and some Kef Q35.2's wanting a home, but I guess that'll be too much. Just got rid of an old tuner

I have a shearne int amp and a denon tuner.
Looking for 200 for amp, open to offers on tuner. Prolly out of range for a garage system tho.

I'd say the total budget was £60-80ish so cheap lads

I've been looking at receivers on Ebay and there are some quite nice retro ones with knobs and dials which look good. Better than a black midi system visually.
