Recommend behind-the-neck headphones

While walking, I wear a wide-brim Panama hat while listening to
audiobooks played on my Sony D-NF340 CD Walkman & MP3 Player.

"Over the top of the head" headphones are very uncomfortable when worn
    with a hat.
"Ear clip" headphones hurt my ears.
Earbuds that fit in my ear canals fall out if they don't have a band
or other mechanism to hold the buds in place.

Can you recommend good (especially, comfort-wise) "behind-to-head" or
"behind -the-neck" headphones? (I've tried Philips SHS8200/28 and
Sennheiser PX 100, PMX100 and HD 202 but they quickly hurt my outer
    ears).

Seems that this group's mostly dead....

Sorry Gary, I can't help. I hardly ever wear headphones as I'm a bit phobic
about things like that (have real trouble with motorcycle helmets).

Thanks Bill, I appreciate the advice. Problem is I hardly ever wear a hat
too for the same reason. About the only time I do is when I'm forced to be
out in the mid-day sun (My hair's not what it used to be. <g>).

If there's not a bigger 'pad' by the time you need one perhaps a light
laptop on a modified stand would do the trick?

    Best,

Intel are pushing what are being called 'Ultrabooks' for this year and
onwards. They're (very) light, thin and powerful laptops with 12 - 14"
screens. Maybe one of those would suit you?

    Cheers,

Sorry for the delay in posting, I don't check often.

There are still issues with SSD devices for main storage that need to be
worked out. You ever notice the HDD LED on your computer flashing all of the
time? SSDs just aren't able to handle that sort of read/write rate jusr
yet - but you're right, it's not far off.

Yes, I believe that, unless the rest of the world steps in to preserve the
image (don't foget that China's just 'gone capitalism') we will likely live
to see the fall of America. All because of a few powerful greedy men (who
will fly away to another country just before the excrement finally hits the
    fan).

I'm pleased that I live in New Zealand (although I'm a 'ward of the
government' in a way, I badly injured my back in my prime and now, at 50,
having lost my home and business, live off the pittance that they give me
each week. Barely enough to pay for internat access and certainly not enough
to have real-life friends. (People scoff at that until you ask them if
they'd have a friend who had no money. You'd have to just sit at home and
talk - or pay for everything if you did things together, like went fishing,
    driving, to the movies etcetera.)

S'funny, I use to always have a full house / car, more friend than I knew
what to do with and often wished for a bit of peace. It's been over a decade
of 'peace' now, as all of my old friends dropped by the wayside
    one-by-one....

At least I don't have to wonder what's for dinner each day; It's always
either bread, bread and cheese or bread and sardines - and I hate sardines
but they're the best nutrition per $ I can get. :(

I hope you find what you're looking for Bill.

Sennheiser ear buds with the appropriate sized rubber inserts to fit you ear
canals should work fine, then rip of two three in pieces of duct tape and
apply them over your ears and make sure it covers over the wires. Note that
duct tape comes in different colors these days too so your not stuck with
shinny grey. Just think of it.... it will look cool! Maybe you'll start a
    trend too.

Problem solve the handy man way.

    You may thank me later.
