Well GH might be around any more, but what about the BBQ?, or if that's too much, what about a meet up/drinks? Dean and Henry also asked about it yesterday?, one suggestion raised was, as everyone loves a FOPP shop, why not have a meet at one, grab some goodies, and beer maybe a bite to eat, I'm sure we can arrange something here, even if it's not that. quick before the usual British summer disappears in a flash of lightening  . OK,

the Fopp idea sounds like fun. As quite a few of us live in the Berkshire area, I propose that we meet up in Reading. Reading is a great place to hang out in, with good pubs and places to eat, it has lively nightlife (for those still young enough to enjoy that sort of thing)

It is is easily accessable by road for many of the guys on here and has excellent rail links to many parts of the country.

    Any thoughts?

    Hey all,

Shack towers is still available for a BBQ up North. I would like to extend a special invitation to Graham N and Warwick.

However, I thought that the idea was to have just one somewhere in the midlands?

Either way, I feel it sould be someone with authroity round here to get a grip of the situation, such as a moderator (a position from which I have recenly been publicly blown out).

However, no sour grapes, I will assist wherever I can, even if it means providing a lift from the North to the Mids in the Shack Twatmobile.

    John

    (go on Michael, gizza job)

    Hi Michael

You can have a look here for useful fopp info.

I have been using Fopp for more years than most people. They opened one of first non Scottish shops in Sheffield in the mid 90's.

I have spent that much money at Fopp that they get the red carpet out when I enter the shop.:D

This idea does sound good. Also the good thing about Fopp is that they are open Sunday as well.

Reading's FOPP - yeah, I can show you guys the seedy underbelly of Reading where the freaks, weirdos and oddballs hang out (hence why I drink there!).

That said, up North could be good too if on a main line train service - nice PROPER beer and reasonable prices. Cool!

I'm still up for a long weekend in Yorkshire taking in the BBQ along the way.

As for FOPP in Reading, well we have one down here in Bath :p and that's much closer to the centre of the known universe than Reading.

Oh yes it is, or so I've been told, being married I wouldn't know:p

Me, I was just looking forward to the BBQ and burning all that food, but as Spock would say, the needs of the many...

Anyway, now that you've got your speakers (any day now eh?), when do you get a telly?

I must phone the shop tomorrow and see if they can get a date out of Castle. I'm getting twitchy. There are so many CDs I just can't wait to play once the new speakers arrive.

I've got my eye on a CD player upgrade too (heads up everyone - could be an Alpha 9 for sale shortly  ).

As for TV, forget it! I don't miss it at all

    I do love the Alpha 9 :)

The possible replacement costs £1300 and, if reports so far are to be believed, will give me more of what I most like in the Alpha 9 (i.e. it's smoothness and listenability with lack of fatigue, great soundstage and imaging, detail, groove :boogie:, etc.).

What's more, it comes in black with silver buttons so will be a nice visual accompaniment to the ATC which is black with silver knobs and buttons. Double nirvana :slayer:

    Chris :D
