    Hi,

I have done the 'pseudo shunt' tweak to my pre-amp and talked to 'Audio Links' about some goood resistors to use. They say 'Bulk Foil' ones from Vishay are generally regarded as the best but also say they sell Mundorf MCap Silver in Oil capacitors which sound extremely fancy!

Can anyone say which would probably be better?

    They also do Black Gate.

    Thankyooo

    er....you're getting confused!

Vishay Bulk Foils are RESISTORS..... Mundorf MCap's are CAPACITORS!!! Two different beasts!

What do you need.....? MCaps are a nice cap, but I like Audio-Note Tantalum and Kiwame resistors.

    Regards,

    Y.

Resistors for the shunt mod. I've tried all the main types in vol pots (holco, welwyn, bradley, AN tants, kiwame, Rikens and various carbon film types I found in the bits box) vishay are the best by miles.
Blackgates are caps too mate, don't know why they brought those into the conversation? Those mundorfs are the business though if you ever look at changing caps in amps.

Lol yes sorry just not paying attention! I didn't bother thinking about it as we were talking about resistors. I'll go for the vishay's then. Cheers.

Vibbles I agree not cheap, however as an ardent m cap user, I was swayed after just one listen.

Are you talking about Mcap ZN's or the silver oils? I've heard about those Vcaps before but price put me off and I prefer the paper & silver foil sound of the mundorfs to the mcap polys.

Both types of the 'M' caps, also Acuric Caps are bloody good too.
V-caps do these as well OIMP
Not tried these, (yet), but the Telfon V-caps, simply the best I've heard :)
