Music First Statement TVC

Has anyone heard the new $7000 TVC? Are they serious. What besides two trannies and volume controls,RCA's and wire could cost $7000US.
Are they serious?

It's a tad more reasonable than that you've got your figures wrong:

UK pounds retail price £7895.00 inc VAT

:D

Hi,

Looks interesting but it's alot of money. It's going to be on show (and hopefully on dem) at the Hifi show this weekend.

Here are some more details.

Well if it sounds as good as other pre-amps at the same price....

I'm perfectly happy with my pre-amp using the same transformers as the standard Music First though! I don't hear any way in which it could be significantly improved.

Standard MF can be seriously improved, even in a domain of properly executed TVC preamps.

No big guns have played with a TVC format so far. There is lots to be done there.

i can tell you what's special on this one inside that causes the price increase.

the 2 ounces of crack they've been smoking...

<Looks out the window>

Yes, it is.

Anyway, "statement" products have to be stupidly overpriced, otherwise they wouldn't make a statement.

The best way to improve it is not to use a preamp at all! Even beats the top of the range wavac ;)

so 8 large for a nice case, transformers and some remote control gubbins.

maybe it all makes sense why they stopped supplying Bent. A cynical man might say they we removing the competition.

Pretty much symptomatic of the 'higher' end of the industry from the looks of it.

I realise that these products are just not targeted at me or anyone with my relatively average means but that is a joke.

It doesn't really bother me because I don't really give two hoots how well the company or organisation fairs. However; Eight grand???? Eight Grand??? You could buy a camper-van for that.

Nice fila top BTW

Not really, plenty of systems and amps require gain for better operation and sound better for it. :) Anyway, this is starting to put me of those Music First Passives, if I had enough money I would like a passive pre along those lines, particulary with balanced in and out.

If the sources have enough drive and the system has enough gain then what could it possibly add? It takes plenty away in my experience.
