Having passed my current set of cables on to taz ....I've been left with nothing but my bit box. after a good rumage I discovered a couple of suitable lengths of Gale xl315, this was stripped cut and fitted into my system.

Sound ...well yes it worked typical stranded copper sound.

But what I did notice, was that sat in my normal listening position, if I moved my head left or right but facing the front the sound clearly goes soft loud soft loud. I know what this is .....these are nodes and antinodes caused by constructive and destructive wave forms. What I don't know is why I should have them ? I don't normally have them with my solid core speaker cable .....this is the only thing to have changed. I get them on all cds and other sources.

I've now built a set of silver foil cables in effect one single flat strand. The nodes have vanished. So it must be speaker cable related ...must n't it ?

Was I hearing the stranding or was there some other effect that could cause this ?

Maybe you wired the speakers out of phase?

I really don't know about cables but here goes.:D

has the cable been exposed to moisture?

check the capacitance of the cable?

has it been bent back on itself ?

(silly one) are the speakers in phase ? alan you beat me to it. :)

No checked that ......assumed i'd done something wrong so all connections and polarities were treble checked.

I think what I'm hearing or I should say not hearing now is an artifact "created" by the gale cable.......

Currently the sound is a good £40/m better if you understand my logic.

Thinking back to my journey through varrious cables ...the nodal thing is something that i have heard before, but its been 5years since i last had stranded copper cables in my system.
