    Not really.

But I was amused to read of Sr Alex Ferguson's complaints that there were 'sinister' reasons behind referees not awarding Man United penalties in recent games.

When it comes to whingeing, no-one can compare to an embittered Scotsman when he's on the losing side.

I suggest removing all toe level items from your abode.

If you stub your little toe, it's almost always broken by default; you don't notice it as the bones are tiny, and they heal relatively quickly :)

You DO notice it though if it's splayed out 45 degrees by being caught on something metal when you kick out in your sleep (the damn thing STILL hurts now when it's cold/wet, like today!). Ooowwww!!!

It's the classic hifi dilemma; do I remove all toe-level items from my abode, or simply have all my toes surgically removed?

Your shoes would be too big so you'd have to buy new pairs.

I could 'invest' in a pair of Mana platform shoes. I could move very quickly, have much faster responses, and emerge from inky blackness.

Sounds to me like Mr Ferguson is trying a little bit of psycological warfare, hopefully by planting a sub conscious seed into the FA Cup final ref's head that any borderline decisions he makes on the big day should go in Man U's favour, and quite rightly too.

Don't bother about playing the game just make sure you get your excuse in first so that the press can give it more credence than it deserves.

Of course it might have the reverse effect of making the ref determined to avoid being influenced by Ferguson's insinuations, and thus not giving Man U the benefit of the doubt.

The thing is that they've had so many dubious penalties given to them, that the referees are probably being rightly cautious. I can't remember the exact statistic, but I read in the Times last year that they had either 3 or 4 more times the penalties than was average.

It wasn't - it was a spare z-bed frame in my mate's spare room. Kind of a "couldn't happen even if you tried" freak accident - even more odd that I did it in my sleep and DIDN'T wake up!!! Tried putting weight on it the next morning, and THEN noticed!

Having done a ten-mile walk yesterday I have impressive blisters on both feet. If I could hover above ground I would!
