    Hi

I wondered if anyone would be able to help with this question?

I've been thinking of getting a set of quality in-ear headphones (Etymotics or Ultimate Ears) and wondered if a Sonic Impact T-Amp would make a good headphone amp?

Is all that's required a knocked up cable connecting a 1/4" headphone jack to four cables that could be plugged into the speaker connectors of the T-Amp?

Anyone done this or thought of doing it?

    Cheers

Sounds like a good idea, might need a little modding though in case it has a little too much juice for a small pair of transducers. I heard one of these things coupled to a pair of cardboard speakers round at Ditton's hoose over the holidays and was amazed at the sound quality from such modest components - not mind blowing , but pretty impressive all the same.

    Have fun...

Some (many?) headphones have a common earth for left and right channels - death to a tripath chip, if I have understood threads on othr forums correctly. Of course if you take the cable mods a little further that can be taken care of.

nope, doesn't work at all, the headphones are too high an impedance for the amp to work without introducing a whole load of noise and the end result is pretty unlistenable.

btw, I did common the grounds on mine and it was fine.
