I can't remember the exact dates but:

April 2004 - Hanky Park (pretty crap enough said)

22nd May 2004 - Rob Gretton Tribute Concert- Manchester Ritz nightclub (Doves performed with Bernard Sumber of New Order, Mr Scruff, Mike Pickering and Grahame Park dj'ng. I met Stephen Morris here as well)

11th June 2004 - Blondie - Manchester Apollo Theatre - Dosn't really need a description but they were great

Early July (probably 10th) - Move Festival (Morrissey headlining, support from the Beta Band, Ordinary Boys, New York Dolls, James Maker) - Brilliant night out, Mozza was on top form.

Friday 23rd October - Manchester University The Zutons with support from the Futureheads - A brilliant night out.

    Gigs still to go to:

11th December - The Buzzcocks at Manchester University with Johnny Marr playing guitar

20th December - Morrissey at the Point Theatre in Dublin. Perhaps the most expensive gig I will ever attend!

    Gigs I missed out on:

May 27th - The Killlers, day after my operation so had to give the ticket away.

Morrissey at MEN - Sold out so couldn't go
Ian Brown at the Apollo - Sold Out
Morrissey at Earls Court - Sold Out

Just the one this year, Brian Wilson at the Royal Festival Hall. But if we're talking quality rather than quantity, I am rich indeed. It even made up for missing Kraftwerk in Brixton. I also thought the Gillian Welch gig screened on BBC4 was pretty remarkable. Does that count?

A couple here and there but the really memorable ones:

David Byrne, Olympia Theatre, Dublin - Small venue (500'ish people), sixth row and DB was really cooking.

Colin Hay (ex Men at Work lead singer) - my local pub, that guys got great voice still - even got to meet him.

    Oooh good question

    The Charlatans
Saturday at Move with the Pixies and the stereophonics
Mozzer at Leeds with the New York Dolls, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, The Libertines and the Shite Stripes
    Saw Keane at the weekend
Paul Weller in a week or two
Got tickets for Embrace in Feb, but I'm now really tempted by the Buzzcocks. Are you sure young master Marr is playing?

I am not sure, I was told by mate that Johnny Marr is now the guitar player in the Buzcocks, he read it in a Smiths book. I did however have a look at the Buzzcocks website but I saw no mention of Johnny Marr. I will do some more research on this matter. I am doubting this now myself.

Ok I think I have worked this puzzle out. Johnny Marr changed his name to Marr to avoid confusion with John Maher the Buzzcock's drummer. Johnny Marr's name was of course Johhny Maher. :newbie:

So it seems Johnny Marr is in fact nothing to witht he Buzzcocks.

    I have just found this...

Marr played as a sideman with a variety of artists, including The The and Electronic with New Order frontman Bernard Summer. Andy Rourke retired from recording has played with Sinead O'Connor and Joyce became a member of the reunited Buzzcocks in 1991.

Sorry about that I shall have words with my mate about this :p. I am not even sure if Mike Joyce is still playing with the Buzzcocks.

After several years out of the live scene, a slight return this year with Basement Jaxx, Beta Band, and Gomez.

Seen quite a few unsigned/local/up-an-coming bands over the last few years too though.

Last one was Christopher Rees with my brother supporting.

I was a bit on the pissed side of sober for Christopher Rees, but liked what I heard. Vocals, guitar, Cello, Violin, keyboards, and drums. His voice bordered on "wet" at times, but some good tunes and look forward to hearing the album. He's been well reviewed in the NME I belive.

Went to see British Sea Power again last night (saw them earlier in the year). packed house - totally up for it. If you get a chance to see these guys live. Do it. Highly entertaining, stary eyed, mad and epic. Remember the days when Radiohead did totally epic shit that made your hair stand on end? (Yes really, they used to ;) ). Well BSP don't sound anything like radiohead, but they have a similar effect (live at least) on me follicles. Their album was a little disappointing - very thin production, but live they are a monster band. Highly recommended .... Jeesus****ingchristohgodNO!!

Just come back from another gig toinight, this time an American band called the Bravery. They were pretty good, they were featured on Jools Holland a few weeks ago.

The support band who were called the Performance were also very good, it was very much Kraftwerk influenced but with a little bit of New Order i.e some melody.

Just a couple of weeks to I see the Buzzcocks now, then two weeks later, Morrissey. I also have tickets fro the NME gig in January featuring the Kieser Klefs, Futureheads, Block Party and the headline act The Killers.

Going to this one in Nottingham tonight, I am very excited...

    Sunn0)))
Sunn0))) makes sounds of weather formation size meditations, as monolithic as a brick of monosludge. Their music is huge and simple, like a future race of technologists who forgot how to build microchips so had to return to factory-sized computers

    Opaque
One man drone/noise experience contrasting controlled intensity with cathartic explosions of mayhem.

    They Live!
    Electronic power duo from Nottingham.

HOTOTOGISU - A whole new blueprint for flesh/metal noise, with huge dinosaur drones cut up with a hail of electronics, mangled strings and vocals.
