Yes, but, I have to ask, why?

And don't respond by "because he can" or "why not"

It would be ideal for a large dance music festival but I'm curious about the bit that says "It was born out of a military request". Is it supposed to simulate an incoming B52 and keep the enemy on their toes?
It's certainly not powerful enough to be a serious 7Hz weapon!!!

I notice its for military use. I remember seeing a documentry on the different uses of sound, and the one that made me shudder is that the Nazis experimented with low soundwaves to torture people.

The other use is Dub Reggae. Remember the reggae sunsplash at crystal palace in the 80's?

Tom Danley has been doing this stuff for years. The military applications are tank/gunfire simulations.

A decade or so ago he came up with the Servo Contrabass for the same reason. TD maintained at the time that '3Hz is quite audible - at 150dB'. Said devices were also found to quite literally shake a house to bits when driven with a sig gen - I'll see if I can dig out my copy of his his original posting on this later.

Was there not some device in r&d that would make peoples insides kind fall to bits with really low level stuff?

Only within a tiny space, for a flash reading by shorting a power supply, to effectively change the enclosures volume. Hardly musical!

Anyway, I've found the old file I was thinking of. Here's an excerpt (from the Bass List, c.1998):

Looks very impressive but really low on the WAF. When I showed her the pic she said a resounding (not sure of the SPLs) "NO!"

There's a long running night called "University of Dub" that takes place every month or so in the Brixton Recreation Centre.

The bass is pretty scary. There's a massive stack of speakers in each of the four corners and you can pretty much see the air moving. Or maybe it's just your eyeballs wobbling. You spend most of the night moving around the hall to find somewhere it doesn't hurt too much.

It doesn't bother the regular dub addicts, however, who have all gone deaf long ago. I know because one lives in my house .... hence a thread a little while ago about blown speakers.....
