the record quality list........

i dunno about you guys but ive found that some records sound better than others, does this mean that some lables sound better than others?

and if so it could be a good idea to post the lables of the good and the bad as a reference guide to consult when buying records, im virtually new to vinyl so if this seems like a bit of a stupid idea then just tell me to shuddup.

i know deutsche gramophone are very good for classical vinyl (and cds)
some of the philips ones aren't too shoddy either

 

Are we talking classical or rock/pop here? For classical, you can't go wrong with Decca SXL's, EMI ASD's and Columbia 33CX's. However, its all rather more complicated than that, which is why those people with cavernous mental facualties can know at a glance what's worth swapping your granny for and what's not worth a soggy digestive - the rest of us try surreptitiously using either the old Penguin record guides or something like a Collectible Record guide.

dire straits , love over gold on vertigo is quite a good sounding record,i got a live oscar peterson record on pablo and it sounds like thers a cussion over my speakers,roulette are also quite good although the stereo seperation is a bit too stereo for my liking..
