    Hello,

We have been abandoned by C4 (scummers) but there will be brief highlights on itv1 - and extended highlights and some live coverage on itv2 (if they don't lose their bottle).

    I bloody luv the tour!

    I can't wait either. :)
We're lucky, we get several hours coverage every day, and full day coverage in the Alps and Pyrenees.

Yeah looking forward to the tour here. Armstrong struggling for form so a few riders should quite fancy it this year. Got no ITV2 though so don't know how much I'll be watching. Following it online mostly I suppose.

At least there'll be a bit on ITV - shall look forward to it... Shame we only get the Beeb digital channels (if the weather conditions are right!)
I'll be especially happy if someone who does all the other tours as well, rather than concentrating exclusively on The Tour, wins!
And hopefully someone with sense at terrestrial TV HQ will realise that mountain biking should be taken off the Yo! Radical Dude! channels and put onto mainstream.. It's a helluva lot more exciting than watching golf, or snooker, or cricket, or tennis, or even football! (All imho of course - if the masses love it it must be great :D)

    above and beyond

Apparently my wife booked her maternity leave to coincide with the start of the tour!
No interest in sports channels generally but is it Eurosport that covers it live?

You are the true gentlemen of the forum.

Unfortunately my plan to get someone else to watch the tour on itv2, and thus double the audience, seems to be failing. itv can be ruthless, pulling progs that don't get the ads. As itv2s sole viewer my demographic does not seem appealing to advetisers (dunno why) - so I'll just have to pray that itv stick with it into the mountains and the race proper :D

    Here's rooting for.... Armstrong!

C4 seems to be dropping sport. even the horse racing (C4 main sport) was only saved because the Tote came in at the last minute to sponsor it.

Miles from everywhere but very near perfect.
If there's anything you want to know about telly programs in the UK try DS.

PS I think Armstrong has another good chance in '05,and he's back in YELLOW :)

Anyone know how to get the tour on the net? Sometimes there are live feeds on Winamp!

Starts on the 2nd July (with a time trial  ). It runs for 3 weeks. They don't get to the mountains :D until about week 2.

One of the (few) reasons for Sky was so we could get ITV2 (no freeview down here), can't really be bothered to upgrade to Eurosport for a month - though if my wife insists of course...

The reason we originally got a video recorder was to tape the C4 coverage which went out at 6 (before we got home)

So if anyone can think of a piece of hi-fi equipment that is a requirement for watching the Tour do let me know!

Noticed that Sean Yates is now Armstrong's Asst Manager, always thought he was one of the good guys so nice he's getting a decent wage. (Apparently he trims hedges the rest of the time)

MY favourite Armstrong moment is still the break-away and win two days after the sad death of Fabio Casartelli - '94 or '95 I think (the day between the entire peleton merely cruised the stage refusing to race as a mark of condolence). I've still got it on video somewhere.

You mean you allow your wife to listen to the whirl of the helicopter blades and the rumble of the motorcycles on anything less than ESL 989s? For goodness sake man* think of the children (or child).

    *In a non-hippy sense.

My favorite (hazy) Tour memory must be Riis taunting and torturing Indurain in the mountains :D in '96

One of my favorite moments (hazy too) was the Roche / Delgado duel in the mountains. Don't ask me what year that was.

...1987, one of my earliest tour memories along with Greg Lemond taking it from Laurent Fignon on the final day time trial in 1989.

As this is a music related forum the other one would be buying a Team Telecom phonecard at Bayreuth on my one and only visit in 1997 - the year Ullrich won, Riis having one for the same team the year before.
