this versus a Roberts radio

Don't giggle at that one! The pre is ok, the tuner very good and the power amp absolutely superb - the A51 is one of audio's best kept secrets, 25 watts of 1960s pure class A and is one of Sugden's best sounding products ever (they admit this themselves!). The A21 gets all the credit and hype, but that thing is where it's at - one of my friends has one between a Densen DM20 and a pair of large Spendors. It is a truly excellent amp.

Tony.

That's a killer system. Stick a pair of Spendor BC1s (with the funky seventies "castor" stands) on the end of that lot, throw a few sheepskin rugs around the room, some Bridget Riley prints, a few "etchings" and some joss sticks and turn your boring bedroom into a caddish early 70s love pad, man! It will also sound very good indeed (but which turntable to add...)

PS The seller's specs are wrong - he is quoting for the later (and inferior) P51 class A/B amp. The A51 is 25 watts of class A and I don't think it is bridgable for mono the way the P51 was. Sugden will still service it all too, though I believe they have trouble finding certain bits of the tuner.
