SWMBO has decided that my target wall shelf and mana soundframe combo has to go as it's an ugly bit of kit in the extreme. I have to agree and to that end have just ordered this http://www.standsunique.com/Transition Wall Support.jpg anyone know if they are any good? If not can anyone recommend something that looks good and works well?

The stands unique is very pretty in a resonant glass kind of way ;)
But mebbe think about doing what I did with a Target shelf:
Just sand off the black paint, repaint in smooth Hammerite silver (took 3 coats, just remember to paint the spikes separately!).
Then get a big lump of hardwood - preferably a nice light one like maple - that's about 2-3" thick, cut to shape and (electrically or you'll get tennis elbow like I did!) sand smooth.
And then you've got a gorgeous looking, very solid and non-resonant shelf...
BTW, the maple I used was an off-cut from a kitchen worksurface.
Costs virtually nowt, fits your exisiting holes (make sure you've got decent at least M8 rawlbolts) and sounds great.

Is the Stands Unique wall support really that resonant?

I'm looking at buying a wall support for my Linn LP12 turntable and I have narrowed down my choice to the Stands Unique support and the One Decent Wallshelf.

From an engineering perspective, I would have thought that the cantilevered design of the Stands Unique would have eliminated the resonant qualities of the glass.............otherwise the resonance of the glass will be completely unsuitable for the LP12.

I would have a look at Custom design up in Newcastle. He has put a lot of effort into his racks and has listened to feedback in the past to improve his products

    Thanks for the advice.

Custom Design was one of the other options I was considering (along with pre-owned Mana & Audiotech supports), but I was specifically looking for some feedback on the Stands Unique design.

    I have tried 2 differentTTshelves
Target and Origin live - the difference they make is incredible. and that was with a concrete floor.

IMO Wall and wood makes for long term enjoyment
Glass sounds impressive to start with - then tiring

The Finite Element wall shelf is beautiful to look at and frighteningly expensive.

Yeah, I came across their shelf when I was looking at the various alternatives.

Needless to say the Pagode wall shelves are well beyond my budget (£150 - £250)

I have never tried acrylic So cant comment. From my recent experience An LP12 sound much more musical, spacious and relaxed atop a RA Torlyte shelf with a metal wall mount- Torlyte shelves are expensive new but can be picked up second hand - or make your own It cost around £12 for material A friend of mine has made a complete home made rack himself.

I think RA does a sale or return thing so you could try it for free.

Also consider the Rega wall mount. Use blobs of BluTak to fit a birch plywood shelf on it and you have a very good support.
