I'm in Korea at the moment, and have found some potentially interesting looking second hand kit. Specifically, there appears to be a reasonable selection of second hand kit.
Would anyone care to comment on the prices of the following aswell as which were good/bad ones that I should look for or avoid:

    Wadia:
    8 - 2k (UK sterling)
    23 - 600 (UK sterling)
    6 - 1300 (UK sterling)
    3200 - 600 (UK sterling)

The 3200 looks pretty ancient, but I don't know about the 23, which looks pretty cheap.

    Thoughts?

Mike, there are a bit dear  avoid the 23(dac it was the first lesser effort and to be fair is average at best) like the pleague, 6 is ok (player with vol control), but you can get them here for that/less.
8 is just a transport only, never heard a 3200 (one of the 1989 models').
The 21 is a good musical player, if you can find one then a Wadia 16 is cracking, 21 around £1100-£1500, Wadia 16 tuff one, here some Joker Dealer wants £3500 :) but still around the £1800-£2500, which puts you in 850 territory, for me the 16 dumps the 850, but it's a personal thing (850 uses the plastic tray and cheaper VRDS mech).
Mike a Wadia 830 (player) maybe worth a look, around the £1200-£1500. hope this helps. WM

    Tone,

Thanks for that, I knew you'd reply, nice one.

I had a scan around Central Audio and the Emporium, the prices over here really don't look that competitive, thought I would be worth a second opinion on.

    Ah well, back to Ebay...

I'm pretty sure that this is what's in the Teac VRDS-T1 as well.

    Cheers

I believe you're correct - having read something similar on AudioAsylum recently when looking for info on the T1. It would appear that the VRDS-10 and VRDS-25 CDPs both use the "better" cast iron VRDS mech...perhaps I should have gone for a VRDS-10 instead of the T1  There are certainly more of them around but none at the price I paid for my T1 :)

Flicking through HiFi World the Teac T1 transport is also listed at the back in the "Classics" section as one of only 3 transports they regard as classics - the other two being the Teac P0 (which apparently still goes for $8K second hand  - if you can find one) and the, ahem, Kenwood 6010 ???

I'm sure garyi wouldn't approve of 3 "jap crap" transports being the only ones regarded as classics :D

Calm down boys, it still sound pretty good :) the wadia ones except 850/301/830/ use either the Pioneer upside down mech or the pastic version, I have a plastic tray  , but inside it's all metal, the P0 I've never seen, the P30 (like Merlin has) is still fecthing strong money around the £1300 mark, cuz they are good. Here is pretty much the only picture and reference on the net I can find of the P0 (at least, the only one not in Japanese):

Comes from this page (about half way down). Now that I've looked at the link for the image (NVX-Krell-CD.jpg) I'm not even sure it is a P0 :(

Plastic or not, it is rather good now :D

And getting better. Given enough time, a Wadia will be unnecessary :p .

    825 Diesel trauma indeed :p. Now we're talking 820 Turbo ;) :MILD:

Oh and please note that Jean-Yves has switched to Shunyata King Cobra mains leads, and all the fancy tube amps are replaced with Tact S2150's connected to an RCS2.2X:D

In fact Jean Yves is doing some mods to the S2150, replacing a lot of the components with Black Gate etc, reclocking and fitting a word clock input.

Still, only the best for the discerning Mnsr Kerbrat;) A man after my own heart:D

As far as I can tell from my correspondence with Jean Yves, the only things that went out the window were distortion, NOS containers, audible noise floors and slow startup procedures;)

Left behind was pure unsullied sound that Jimmy would have loved had he lived long enough to take advantage of 21st Century technology:D :D

I opened up my T1 last night just to take a quick look - WOW! these things really are built like a tank

No less than 14 screws just holding the top cover on! And when you've got that off, you still have to remove a secondary (and not that flimsy) metal sheet cover held down by another 5 screws. Acres of metal sheilding and bracing everywhere. Very impressed. Got my first close up look at a VRDS mech aswell and wasn't disappointed :)

All packed up again and on the "NHS waiting list", operation scheduled for September :D
