Hello. My listening equipment is pretty basic for you audiophiles. But as an aged person, my hearing has deteriorated and I can no longer tell the difference between bluetooth HD and CD quality.

I have recently bought a new amp : Denon pma600 NE. My CD player is : Maranz RCD-W100. I have a digital tuner: Cambridge Audio DAB300 and a Teak V150 cassette deck. Speakers are Mission 761i. I tend mostly to listen on my Senheisser open backed headphones: HD660S. And I listen a lot through a headphone DAC (Dragonfly -Cobalt) to the Primephonic streaming service.

I ditched my LP record collection 10 years ago - I couldn't bear the scratchy sounds any longer!) - Sacrilege, I know!

My preferred listening is classical (from plainchant and Monteverdi, through Mozart and Mahler, to Vaughan Williams and Shostakovich. My popular music listening does not extend much beyond the era of Ella Fitzgerald. Some avant garde sounds on Radio 3 late at night keep my attention for a short while and I enjoy some Jazz.
The more melancholic the sounds, the happier I feel! It isn't an age thing. I have always felt like that about music. I'm not alone, surely?

    Hi I am Jess.

    I am from the Philippines.

My gear is Audio Research SP 11 Preamp, DPA 200s Amp, Pink Triangle Anniversary Phono (not using), Epos 14 speakers, Cables are DPA Slink interconnects and Black Slink.

A second system consisting of Musical Fidelity A120 Integrated Amp, DPA Big DAC, iFi Bluetooth DAC, Samsung TV optical cable connected to DPA DAC, Laptop with Spotify converted by Tuneskit to FLAC, Deltec Cables Slink & White Slink.

I used to be an importer of Musical Fidelity, Deltec/DPA, Pink Triangle, Quicksilver and Stereophile & Absolute Sound Magazines 30 years ago.

I stopped the business and even playing these good equipment but am now trying to get back to listening to music and using my equipment again. I wanted to change my Amp in my main system by DPA 50s but unfortunately I do not have a Deltec 500s or 1000 speaker cables that is particularly meant for this amp.

I joined this forum to ask advice on many things I do not know like where to get these Deltec cables.

    Thank you all.

    Jess

I am, like Mozartian above, an aged person. A couple of years ago I bought a Cambridge CA60 amplifier and currently listen to DAB radio via the amplifier. I thought I would buy a DAB radio from them only to find that I am it would appear hopelessly behind the times and they only seem to produce a streamer. I think I understand the technology, but for all the videos on YouTube and on their website I still find myself without an answer to basic questions. With everywhere locked down (the retailer I tried went straight to mailbox - which was full). So I am hoping there is someone on here who can tell me:

    (a) Do I stop using the DAB radio and listen to the music via internet radio? And is internet radio better quality?

    (b) If I use one of the download services such as Spotify or TIdal when I have downloaded the piece I want does the network streamer STORE the music as well - or do I need another piece of kit to store the music?

    (c) The streamer is an expensive piece of kit at my age: is there THAT much improvement in the sound quality?

In your laptop or IPhone Spotify allows you to download. The songs you must realize are highly compressed. If you will do your Spotify in your laptop I suggest you purchase Tuneskit that will uncompress your songs to 10 types. I chose FLA. if you have a Mac I think you choose AFLAC.

from your computers out you need a DAC.

Hello. I'm new to dedicated gear 2 channel listening. In the last 2 months I bought an Arcam SA20 integrated amp, pre-owned B&W CM5 speakers, a Yamaha 600 CD player and a Bluesound Node 2i streamer. Trying to smooth out a couple of small kinks but so far I'm pretty happy where I'm at. It's not going to win any audio showroom of the month awards but it's mine and it's making me happy.

    Hi All,
    From a retired once audiophile.
The hearing is now much reduced in frequency range, but I still enjoy my music through an Arcam CD92 CD player, an Arcam Alpha 10 and 10p with B&W CDM 7se speakers plus a REL Storm 3 sub-woofer (to fill the missing octave). Some time ago there used to be a Thorens TD125 Mk2 with a Rega RB300 arm and an Ortofon m/c cartridge, but I had to let that go when I moved from Europe back to the UK.
My musical tastes are primarily classical from early baroque to around the romantic period.
Then again I do listen to popular from the 50's, 60's and 70's or so.
My background was as an electronics apprentice in the UK aircraft industry back in the 60's, moving into IT in '66.
I finished my career writng courses about data-comms via satellite way back in '01/'02 and delivering them to telco's around the world. (Not too techie then!) My wife is a semi-professional operatic soprano and I create recorded orchestral accompaniments for her to sing to using MIDI and orchestral VST's.
I'm looking forward engaging with others on this forum.
    C-Clef.

Hi all. I thought this would be a good place for some advice.

I bought on the advice of an audiophile acquaintance, an Azur Cambridge Audio 640A amp. A friend generously sold me some Kef Cresta 10s for £20. Amazing. It sounded lovely. I found another pair of the same speakers for £35 at my local second-hand store and bought them for a relative. They were faulty. Sure enough, I returned one of my good ones and kept one of the faulty ones leaving me with only one good speaker (I can't even...!) I have been looking for a nice replacement pair of speakers and found a forum entry which states: "...the Epos M5, Monitor Audio Bronze B2 or (for the brave!) the Triangle Titus as the best matches we have heard."

I wondered if you would agree with this judgement. There are options for all. The Titus' are probably more expensive than I had imagined spending. I would probably, given the option, go for something with perhaps a relatively neutral reproduction for production purposes, but that's not a potent determining factor. Any advice appreciated. Kind Regards, Scott T.

I will reproduce this in the Audio thread as well but thought as I was saying hello, it might be good to include my query. Thanks again. I also have a nice PC, Rode NT1A and a guitar along with Dumbek etc... for recording. Getting more kit as I go on. I suppose my budget is £100-250 Max. I'm not used to amazing systems so I imagine anything half-decent will sound great to me.

Main system is a Linn — Naim — Kudos set up.

Mainly listen to Jazz with the Linn streamer.

Recently changed over to streaming only after selling on my LP12 which I’d had since 1986.

    Hi all, just introducing myself-
Using a Rega RP3, Cambridge Audio CD Player (something basic), KEF R100 Speakers and Arcam A19 Amp.
Have just bought a second hand Arcam SA20 that was too cheap to turn down- and looking forward to seeing if the speakers pair well...
Musically I am listening to post punk like Viagra Boys, Oh Sees, Flatworms, and classic rock.

Hello Y'all from South Carolina! New guy here.
    Thanks for the add.
    My system is-
    Bryston 4BST amp
    Adcom GFP 750 pre
    Sony Disk Explorer 400
Perpetual Technologies P1A digital correction engine
Perpetual Technologies Modwright 3 P3A DAC
Monolithic Sound P3 PS for the PT
    Rega Planar P8
    Apheta 3 cart
Pro-Ject Tube Box DS2 phono pre
    Black Linear PS
    NHT 2.9 speakers
    Monster Power conditioner

Well it didn't take long after getting the RP8 that I have a problem with a channel in my amp. I bought the Bryston used 22 years ago and love the sound. Bryston will give me 40% off a new amp if I send them mine. Considering it. What would be some other recommendations?
