I Would really like to go to the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show, 4 - 6 November 2005 takes place at the Novotel London West Hotel, but I live in West Yorkshire & I have never been to London.

Could someone tell me the easiest and quickest to get there, I would be catching the train from Leeds Station after that I am lost. Which station do I need to go to and from there how do I get to the Show.

It would be a day trip so i would also need to sort out the return journey.

As much information as you can supply would be appreiciated.

    Cheers

From Leeds the trains go to London Kings Cross (2 and a half hours); from there you take the Hammersmith & City tube line to Hammersmith (say 30 minutes to include waiting time). From the tube station the hotel is a couple of minutes' walk. A location map is here:

    Very easy to get too.

If its your first time, be warned there is a surprising lack of bush.

Why 'surprising'? Surely these events are usually men-only, with an emphasis on nerdery and geekiness? (I've never actually attended one, y'undershtand, so my views are entirely based on prejudice)

I went last year and there was actually a fair few tot toppies, but Nuts or Zoo or whatever mag it was was there too.

As for the show, I thought it was quite naff. This may have been my screwed up perception of it, but you could only listen to kit and not buy any at all. I was kinda hoping to be able to demo and buy stuff at possibly cheaper that store prices.....

You can pick up cables etc, but that is all....

Very few suppliers want to deal with the public direct - cable and accessory manufacturers aside.

They will demo stuff and then point you to the nearest dealer.

The hotel is easy to find but not sure how much serious hifi there will be compared to easy to fit home cinema - going by what What Hifi seems to be about nowadays.

I suppose if general home entertainment is what you want this ok but if you were planning for hifi then the hifi news show in september may be better.
