A number of us have more than one hifi set-up. Having asked about the sources plugged into your main set-up - see 'What sources?" poll/thread (reckonning that was where the 'best' was to be found), this may not have encovered sufficient about what's hot on ZG.

    So ...

    Hi,

Got enough boxes kicking around to potentially assemble a second system consisting a pretty much all of the above. Just not got 'round to doing it. Perhaps further house re-arranging to set up telly etc. in another room. Alternatively set up something for the bedroom, which would really only require another Squeezebox to complete.

Really must get 'round to selling some of the excess. Anyone interested in a Rega Planet 2000 or Klipsch Heresy II's? :)

    Regards,

    Stuart.

PS - haven't ticked any of the boxes as second system currently not assembled...

Second system is an iPod Mini with Sennheiser MX-500s, so I voted Hard Disk.

I'm sorry. I tried to pull this thread/poll.

First, I set up the poll incorrectly - it should allow multiple answers.

Second, I know a number of us experiment with a second system, and that was really what I wanted to draw out. So this may not be the way to go.

For what its worth, I've recently been taken by the following:

battery powered solid state MP3 player (but could be better)
    +
    battery powered digital amp
    +
    NTX speakers

both with and without assistence of a mains powered sub.

Compared with my (expensive but better) main hifi system, this is shockingly good.

I don't really call my other system a "second" system, as the two are fairly well-balanced. I spend a lot of time in both rooms, so wanted hi-fi's of equal quality in each.

i voted 'other'. my second system is my car's hi-fi (if it qualifies as such) which is usually being driven by a solid state mp3 player.

well my second setup is my HT system.. but ive been developing it with the notion that it should be good in 2 channel as well (or at least very listenable)

to that end i purchased mission 782se floorstanders (78se package all round) and running them off a yamaha dsp-a1 amp.. which it must be said can hold a tune surprisingly well for what it is.

The source is therefore my new denon DVD player. And overall its not bad. im experimenting with the denons own dac via analogue outs.. or using the yamahas DAC's to see which sounds nicer.

Well I suppose the PC is now my second system as it has a pair of KEF Q15s which will be attached to it once I track down a suitable cheap second hand amp to hide under the desk here. It'll be used to play CDs off the hard disk and samples off the internet.

I also have a car system - a Panasonic CD/Radio which I feed with CD-Rs created on the PC.

Then there's the personal system - a Creative Zen Touch which I feed with uncompressed audio from the PC hard disk.

Notice a common thread here? Yepp, the PC is now the source of all my music. Well almost - I still play CDs in the lounge for serious listening but I expect that to change in the near future.

I love the Squeezebox. I've been looking at what some guys have done by way of modding, putting the thing in a smart case with a better PSU etc. Tempted! :)
