I have two pairs of Rega ELAs that I'm about to put up on eBay. Both are in very good condition and work well and I haven't made any modifications to either pair.

I would like to determine whether they're mark 1, mark 1.5, mark 2 or even 2000s but one of them doesn't quite fit the criteria that I was kindly given by Mike Sae (of Pink Fish) for a mark 1.5 or a mark 2.

    Pair 1:

    • black finish
    • transmission line port at top rear
    • 3 spikes on steel base
    • full fluting (grooves) - top to bottom
    • round bass drivers
    • serial numbers 3738 and 3739

I think that these are mark 1s.

    Pair 2:

    • black finish
    • transmission line port at top rear
    • 3 spikes on steel base
    • half fluting (grooves) - top half only
    • rounded square bass drivers
    • serial numbers 11026 and 11027

I think that these are either mark 1.5s or mark 2s.

    Can anyone advise? Thanks.

    Hi Steve,

The first pair are Mk 1s (Royd drive unit), the second pair are Mk 1.5s (Rega driver). Mk 2s had 4 spikes. 2000s - just play them. If you throw something heavy in their direction, they're 2000s....

Yep, first 1's and second 1.5's (I have those ones)

It might be worth advertising elsewhere first as I've been watching them on ebay and they don't seem to sell for anywhere near what they are worth!!

Might be worth asking pbirkett, he sold his not long ago.

What do you reckon would be a fair price for them then?

Agree with that if theyre in good fettle.

    Steve

    Your inbox is full.

Seeing as the Rega's you've got are black too, I'll think I'll stick with the one's I've got and tidy them up a bit at some stage, thinking of veneering them as a bit of a project but the fluting on the top half of the baffle will be a mare to do, thanks again though, regards, Mart

£250 from Audio-T, 2002 (mint condition, with boxes) - so £200 is top-whack via Ebay IMHO.

I paid £50 for mine (with box/packaging) but the cabs are farked (sonically OK, but farked) and both tweeters really need replacing. If I had the money 7_V, I'd be after your Mk1s like a whippet :)
