After much much research, I am still struggling to decide which is my favourite grape.!!

At present it's a toss up between Tempranillo - a mighty not too oaked Rioja, or teh Pinot Noir. Must confess bit too keen on New World Cabernets or Merlots.

Mind you , there's always the Syrah (Shiraz)........ Petit Syrah (Durif).......

Oh well ....more research required :D

Any suggestions ????

Yeah but not too fuity tho ! I'd probably go for the more elegant European types.. were talking vino here of course :D

Ah yes...whilst the rest of the world is getting bored stiff with the ubiquitous Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Portugal has always resisted the import of foreign grape varieties and still has a vast range of its own distinctive varieties that makes Portuguese wine IMO unique and very special: Aragonês, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Periquita (aka Castelão), Bastardo, Moreto to name but a few - of which Trincadeira and Castelão are my favourites.

So, next time you're looking for some wine (esp. red wine) forget about the all the "rebadged" Merlots and Cabernets, get yourself some real wine :MILD:

See here for a bit more on Portuguese grape varieties. Oddbins et al (like everyone else) has a pitiful selection of Portuguese wine but try some, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If nothing else it will be a respite from the "Coca Cola" Cabernets and Merlots you get everywhere else.

Some of the online merchants have a slightly better selection. See here for one my current favourites.

Michael.

So now we're talking about grapes here in a hi-fi forum:rolleyes: I wonder what's next:confused:

I wonder also if grapes might improve soundstaging, bass and treble extension, etc;) Well, this is the chat section so I guess it's just alright:)
Or maybe we should have a fruit section here in the forum :D :D

Sorry, it's just that, the only kind of grapes I know and like are the seedless variety:D

regards :D
