After me admitting that Yes are my favourite band it got me thinking about my favourite "Ahhhhh" song.

So mine is "Too Shy Shy" by Kajagoogoo.

I think it is an absolutely brilliant piece of pop rubbish and would probably appear on my Desert Island disc.

The Carpenters, "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft". It's just so goddamed loopy, it takes serious amounts of hallucinogens and an utterly cosseted superstar existence to write a song like that without any irony intended, I suspect.

I even have a Carpenters compilation album. Oops.

I've mentioned mine in another thread,

    Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone
Survivor - Eye of the tiger.

Complete unashamed tripe, but mandatory nevertheless.

I'm also a bit of a closet Bruce Hornsby fan as well, and sometimes i like it 'The Way It Is' - but i don't know if this is classed as bad or not.

I like Dolly Parton as well....

Excellent idea for a topic as well as an excellent choice of track too Lee!

Hmm, I think I'll just incrementally add to this topic as and when... Far too many tracks to list which I can't recall off the top of my head...

SClub7 - Don't Stop Moving [Very poppy, very catch and gets my foot tapping whenever I hear it - also guaranteed to get me onto the dance floor too :p ]

Bananarama - Nathan Jones [Just love this 80's cover version of the 60's classic]

Any of the chart hits by Wham, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet - yeah bring it on... :D

My vote goes to Barbie Girl by Aqua.

I bought the Justin Timberlake album about a year ago and have never looked back. Oh, the ridicule I suffered for some months until I played it so much that people in the bars stopped complaining :D.

One arrogant and very dozy young lady asked me why I was playing JT as he was in a boy band. Apart from telling her politely to f*ck off, I asked her what she'd rather I play. The answer was legendary; "What about Robbie Williams ?". My jaw, and several others hit the floor.

I'm going to steal Dom's thunder here by mentioning...

    Toni Basil - Hey Mickey

    and

    Cinderella - Gypsy Road.

    :)

Oh, speaking of cheesy rock, how about The Choir Boys - Hey You.

my own grubby penchent is for 80's gothic nostalgia.
the damned - grimly fiendish and most of the phantasmagoria album.
sisters of mercy - this corrosion.
the cult - (she sells) sanctuary and rain - also the witch (although not stricly 80's goth stuff)
spear of destiny - you'll never take me alive and the wheel
    and stuff of that ilk.

also lou bega - mambo no 5 i'm sad to say.

    cheers
