How easy and how cheap would it be to manufacture a simple one input passive preamplifier.

just a phono in.. a volume knob and a phono out... nothing fancy... just something that works.

its for creating a point of unity for controlling the volume of two sets of PC speakers/subwoofers.

the option to use a second input might also be usefull but not necessary,

are there any kits for such a thing etc

With the parts, about an hours work to drill the holes and assemble cost if you use an alps pot and a maplin hammond case about £30.

There are some cheapo kits on ebay with stepped attenuation.

If the quality is not all that important you can use a standard £2.99 pot from Maplin. They are still pretty decent, I think it would do for a PC system.

If you did you would never be happy [I wouldn't be ] with it. Asd tenson says depends on how crutically you listen.
