It's been mooted in a couple of other threads...

So, who'd be up for this at the northern end of the peak district? I think any dates will have to be selected at pretty short notice in order to have a decent chance of good weather (thinking back to last time I organised a barbecue a month in advance and it peed it down).

Might not be for a week or two yet, as I need to get the new build bike up and running smoothly, plus I fell down the stairs on the weekend and twisted my ankle (again...). However, a list of names of interested parties....

Likely riding will be firetrail and singletrack, plus the obligatory standing around chatting bits, and a visit to the riverhead could well be on the cards too...

yeah, could be up for that, but it's been ages since I was out on my bike tho...!!!

I would but my stabilizers might hold me back and I cant stop using my front brake.......repeat to myself, "use the rear, use the rear, use the rear". Needless to say my nuts hurt, I should have given a sample to store for future fertility duties if need be, oh well.

I can just imagine it...we'll all turn up, ride about a mile, then just goto the pub...well, sounds good to me anyway!!

Followed by a car stereo/mp3 player bake off :D

I cant ride after Ive had a beer or two, I get huge headaches. Saying that, I cant ride full stop, nearly fell off my exercise bike this morning.

Wherabouts?
My problem is that there's such a wealth of great biking within an hour of here that I don't know if I can be bothered to drive 3-4 hours for what may not be as good! (miserable bastard, I know...)

isaac - per previous i'm unfit and the bike, though clean now, remains unridden so yeah! i'm up for it!! its been a while since i threw up due to physical effort........
that said we are not around much in July. i'll try and keep an eye on this thread for further updates......
must get diameter of seatpost thingy so i can get that seat clamp ordered......

Rob - if you have a local railway station that gets you to Huddersfield you could go on from there to Marsden (or Greenfield if its to be a Saddleworth jaunt)

Chris - I got a seat clamp off the shelf at Colne Valley bikes in Linthwaite. They have a variety of sizes, so should be able to get something there.

If it looks reasonable on evenings this week you can come with me on shakedown rides of my new rig... having significant front mech issues (I think it's been knackered) but hopefully should be able to ride reasonably, but might be stuck on the large chainring.

Well, Chris and I held a mini-bike-off last night after bumping into each other in the bike shop. Just a quick run up and down wessenden which gave my new rig its first off-road run (with a stop to tighten up a few bolts, fiddle with the air pressure in the rear shock, etc). Still very much being "shaken down", but early results are extremely promising. Hope your legs are ok today Chris!

legs are not too bad thanks Isaac.....

good run out, maybe i'll ge to the top next time........ not as fit as i'd hoped to be, on balance i guess i found myself as fit as i'd expected to be  but it was a good run out - will have to look at the o/s map but i'm sure we could make a big loop out of the trip up wessenden to the holmfirth road than back acros the moors to meltam then marsden / riverhead

forgot to mention last night - i know the white house pub rob mentioned - we can actual ride there from marsden via the pennine way, probaly take a couple of hours 'door-'to door' so i dunno if we'd be fit for much more on arrival - and wwe'd still have to get home! gone (for now) are the days i went out at 10 on a sunday morn and got home at 6!

rock climbing, i came off when placing protection at about 13m up and the bit of gear below me failed to hold me so i hit the ground after the rock face broke my fall a bit. ended up with two fractured writs, a bit of bone shatered in my foot and a few bruised ribs. all in all i was very lucky. plasters come in a couple of weeks which is perfect timing for the wedding.

and rsand, awkwardly ;-)
