Agricola masses

    The Janos Bali recording of Agricola's masses is again available on Hungaroton. It includes first ever performances of Agricola's Missa in minen sin and Missa malheur me bat (sic).

    It is renaissance polyphony but unlike everything else.

    Perhaps Ockeghem is relatively close.

    It is complex, not at all beautiful, absolutely impossible to memorize. I played the record several times in a row and I'm still trying to figure it out.
