Amazed at Dixons PC prices

My 84 year old grandparents have a P266 with 48MB RAM, Windows 95, and a 400MB HD! (I think drive C: is a 170mb unit!)

It gets turned on around once a year.

Yep, Im typing on a P133 with 48Meg RAM [some of it video..], Win 95r2 I never try for movie files, etc - but it's OK for BBB and jpg's. It used to just about burn CDs, but when it played up, I just didn't bother any more, since I have a seperates burner [is it my fault the pr*cks don't use the media levy to subsidise royalties?? Get it together guys, I pay my dues...]. I have 2 HDD and 7 partitions, and it just about survives. I can feel a shuttle PC coming soon...

That beats my C64, I wonder if anybody here has a working ZX80? I doubt anybody could beat that.

My mate's dad has :)

I have a BBC-B/DFS/floppy in the cupboard - DFS is getting flakey but Chuckie Egg on a 25 inch TV via RGB scart is pretty cool though :)

My parents are using a:
P75
96 mb RAM (it needs it!)
1.3 gig HDD
1 mb graphics
CDROM, SB16

It just about works.

I also have a 1995 (good year!) Toshiba Contura Aero with 486DX4-100, 24mb RAM and 720 mb HDD (12 inch TFT screen). The BIOS batt is dead but other than that it works well. The screen is brighter and clearer than any modern TFT on a laptop that I've seen - progress? Yeah right!
