Could it be a failed capacitor?

The bass and mid range sounds find and has a lot of clarity but the top end sounds far too bright. This is with my headphones.

On the speakers the right one works fine, the left one has a very faint tinny sound, I can feel the woofer moving in and out but can hear very little output from it.

Has my amp gone to pots after just two years?

Actually its the CDP player. I cleaned out the RCA connectors a few weeks ago which solved the problem but now its gone again :(

Edit agian the amp is not right, on the turntable the right is still much louder than the left :(

Have you swapped the speaker connections? This will show if it is a speaker problem. Are the speaker cables securely attached?

Check that the interconnect is in correctly. You could try swapping left and right on the interconnect. This will show if the source or interconnect is the problem.

Does the sound come through if you wiggle the volume pot back and forth? The pot may need cleaning.

Best to look for the obvious before assuming that something has died :)

The amp pot dosn't work so I will get some contact cleaner on that tomorow. Basicaly when I turn source direct off the music comes out from one channel only.

The CDP is fine, it was a dodgy recording causing that.

I have not changed a thing, but my mum has tidied my bedroom. I have checked all connections and its all fine.

I am hoping its just a problem in the source direct circuit. One channel seems lounder than the other which is why it was sounding so forward.

Does the amp have a balance control?! :D

That is what I mean, its one the same circuit as the source direct. I have messed around with the switch and its working fine now I suspect there is a dry joint on the source direct switch which cancels the balance pot.

It could be dust as the top of the amp is very very dusty.
