    Hi
    - I'm seriously considering replacing my speaker cable with this - reviews seem favourable and Mr Speltz seems like a "good guy" - answering email queries quickly. Does anyone have experience of anti-cable use? I "downgraded" to 8TC recently and am considering replacing this (4.5m runs) with anti-cable. System: WAD KiT 88 to Merlin VSMs. Thanks.

Probably very good, but look at RS stock number: 357-930 - 30m for £12

    www.rswww.com

It is basically the same stuff, only a very little bit thinner (they don't seem to sell the next gauge up). Perfectly capable though.

I use Anticables with a pair of £8k speakers. I used to use Nordost SPM. Need I say any more?

PS. Speakers are for sale if you are interested...

Would you reccomend using that RS gauge for speaker cable, Tenson?

I'm moving house next week which will mean new speaker cable. I'm not down with the whole 'pay the dealer prices' for wire these days and am looking for good alternatives.

Dealer prices - well, Anticables are something like $10/foot-pair terminated, which is roughly £15/metre pair, so hardly pricy!

Yes, it should be perfectly fine. You will need to use a pen-knife to scrape the enamel off the wire where you wish to terminate it though (equivalent of stripping the insulation off a normal cable).

I hadn't looked at the prices. Although I was talking more about cabling in general.

Cheers Tenson. We may need to order a reel of that for something or other at work I think. :D

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm a bit wary of most of the more expensive cables now - I've used several - during the mid '90s I climbed the Kimber ladder - 8VS - 4TC - 8Tc to Select something or other (4TC seems best value with hindsight), should have learned my lesson from "Naim upgrading" (...shakes head at foolish part of Hi-Fi journey...) then a Nordost cable to go with my "red dawn" period. I tried cryogenic townsend cable which was pretty good and was delighted with Tony's coherent wire (sadly I can't afford a 5m pair) Of all my speaker wire the only cable I regret selling was some dpa black 16 (hens teeth) which I sold along with most of my dpa stuff a few years ago. I think I'll have a go with anti / van damme or probably negotiate some of Zanash's "home brew".
jtc - I'd love the Audio Physics but can't afford them - don't think I'd get enough for my merlins!

Neil- if you cover the Avantis, talk to me - I might be negotiable on price and would contemplate part-ex...

Yep - I have a custom-made DIN->Eichmann Bullet RCA version. It is very, very good indeed.

have you tested them against any other cables?

just to have some reference or idea about their sound

Yes - the cables I've tried them against, or have tried in the past, include various Nordosts - solar wind, red dawn and SPM - CHord Solid 2, DNM Reson, Chord Anthem, Naim grey cable and a couple of others I forget.

It is certainly as good if not better than the SPM, with more body but perhaps a tad less texture to the sound. It's as tight and coherent as any of these other cables, and with a full, extended bass.
