How women always seem to moan to us about the same common subjects over and over again? For example, I was visiting my parents this weekend (the main reason was so they got their PC fixed for nothing) and took a load of bovine excrement from my mother over:

- How much beer I drink
- The food I eat
- How much money I spend on music/HiFi/AV Kit
- Smoking

No wonder I'm in no hurry to get married! Anyone else suffer from the above, be it from mothers. wives, girlfriends etc....?

Luckily, don't get any hassle from the parents about any of the above, they've kind of accepted the fact that I'm not going to listen and let me get on with it. Female friends have also learnt it's best not to comment... although one was actually surprised how little I have bought music wise this year already!

The main thing my mother has a go at me about is probably eating too much, but saying that I am pretty overweight. She's not that bothered about much else that I do, although she did used to have a go at me about drinking vodka every night, but I dont do that anymore since I found I had liver traces. Generally though she's fine, although she has a tendency to occaisionally "go off on one" for reasons unknown to me at the time.

They do that. It's a genetic thing. Ignore it.

Thinking about it though, we're just as bad. We moan about them shopping, wanting shelves putting up, stopping us getting the next new box...

As longs as I use my HP890s my mum is fine. My mum moans at me some times but not very often. She just quizes me some times too much though.

my mums reasonably tolerant but sometimes the bass is too much...oh for tone controls  :D

my mother is well beyond caring - i'm nearly 40 after all. but mrs johnh worrys vocally about alll those things.

You think you've got it bad!? My folks hardly ever touch a drop. If I have more than 1 beer a day at Christmas I'm an alcoholic. Oh, and that one time I drank 6 pints of real ale (8%) in 90 minutes on an empty stomach before a tranride home will never ever be forgotten).

I'm over a stone underweight. I've NEVER EVER had this hassle thank GOD! My sister's 50% overweight (NO joke - she's a heiffing minger with REAL issues) so she takes that flak.

All the time. I retort with "how much money do you waste on your embroidery" or "yeah, but when you've read a book you want to read a new one; the "libraries" I visit never have new music in on time so I have to buy them"

- Smoking

They think I gave up in 1992. Besides, they'd be more worried about other stuff I do so I've stopped feeling guilty on this, although the really perverse thing is my mum's had cancer TWICE (and never smoked), and I started smoking heavily when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 - how messed up is that? I've cut right down since but all the same... Crazy.

Yeah too right - nag nag nag. Mind you, I'm SUPER jaded since my natural mum (the mum I speak of here is my adopted one, and thus my sister isn't blood related to me thank GOD!) got rid of me at three months, and my foster mum only handled me to change nappies; therefore I hate physical contact and don't trust women anyway. Remember you can only ever trust yourself... The minute you open up to someone you'll leave yourself wide open for being kicked in the balls...

Possibly yes, or maybe, just maybe, it'll all be nice and fluffy!

dom - very true mate :)

Paul - funny about that - all can be fine and five minutes later she goes off on one too! Why do they do it?

She even attempted to start on dad about how much he drinks. Not sure if it has esclated further, but I suspect she'll get a pretty direct response from him

Smoking - I don't given too much crap over it (only smoke socially) - my sister takes a lot more, as she smokes far more heavily, plus due to the history (one person, I think - who didn't smoke!) of breast cancer in the family.

All quiet on the family front for now, but I suspect it will hit the fan again soon....

Yeah, it is strange, but like I say, I put it down to PMT, and lets just say, shes learned not to stick around too long for my reaction ;) :JOEL:

This is true - though remember, 9x out of 10, it's love at first BITE, 'cos the majority of women seem to be after your wallet and car first (and I've got no dosh and can't drive!!) - he he!!!

Fluffy and nice is a nice thing to aspire to though - always open minded about these things even if I shoot my mouth off here about it!

Yeah - how's that done then? My dad smoked like a chimney into the mid 60s and has never had a real illness EVER, but my mum's like a Skoda (sorry mum!) - she's always going wrong. Then again, she's always fighting through it so there's a definite example of one definitely good woman I know :)

Oh - she met Princess Di twice as well :)
