Anybody got a Dynavector L200 Pre?

I heard something very strange at one of the heathrow shows ...by dynavector but when asked if they were the same people as the cart makers the answer was ellusive ...

As far as I can remember it processed the signal but did more than the normal line level.....as the speakers were oddly positioned in the room ..like 1/3 of the way up the side walls ..

As much as I tried to like it there was something not quite right imo

Grahams sell the L300 and HX 1.2 , I preferred them to a Naim 500 combo and bought the HX, good amp just lacked the drive for my (then ) loudspeakers.

Dynavector Superstereo. Different product. The L200 is a straight 2-channel pre, no signal trickery.

The Dynavector electronics actually hail from New Zealand, with the exception of the aforementioned Superstereo thingy. The L200 has a pretty good reputation. Depending on price, it could be a fine buy.

I'd hear first but having spoken to some guys in New Zealand and a former Naim dealer who held them in high regard. If It's a decent price then I'd be tempted to take a punt. There was a pretty good review in HiFi+ a few years ago. try the website for the issue number.

P.S.

I'm not what I would call a 'Naimy' by any stretch of the imagination.

I heard a very early L200 and was impressed by it's detail and a lack of any typical solid state characteristics.

Sadly I missed it.
The shop that had it, the owner had promised it to someone else but not told the salesman :-(

...but I've just found another late model 2004 one :-)

My Alchemist Forseti Pre/Power combo is now for sale, they're listed in the Classified section on this forum.
