The orange cog wheel, that drives the tray, needs replacing. The gears are stripped and hence the tray is dead. The ARCAM part needed is TPH21. Looking for someone whose ALPHA 5 Plus is gone but with the cog still functional.

A common complaint, the tray-loading gear from the complete Philips CDM9's disc loader is a known weakpoint. Spares do turn-up on ebay and elsewhere - googling for something like ''cdm9 tray gear' may get you started.

    Keith,

The new ones on ebay are fine - I installed one the other year with great success. I probably still have an email with detailed fitting instructions from Kevin Green, who modifies these players. Drop me a PM if you want me to look for it.

Hello. I have an Arcam Alpha with a jamming drawer. I have a replacement gear but need the instructions. Any chance please you could send me the instructions to replace the gear. I am in Spain so no chance of getting it repaired unless I do it myself. Many thanks. Peter.

Many thanks for CD drawer instructions. Can anyone offer any advice on replacing the cog, I am loath to render the player useless. Would |I be better off trying to get it professionally replaced. Many thanks.

    Hi
Another tray cog broken, this time on an Alpha 6. Would the instructions for the 5 model be appropriate for the "6". If so, I would be very grateful for a copy of these instructions.

    My email is [email protected]

    regards
    Andrew

    Hi ,

I am really new at this and don't know how to do this but my Arcam 5+ CD drawer went last week I was using it manually with a bit of tape. Then it jamed I took the back off to check to see if it was the gear it was. Put it back together and now it spins as soon as power is on and the disc part rattles and it wont play anything. I have ordered a gear and belt off e-bay how do I fit it?

    Thanks

    Mac
