    Hi,

Any one any experince of these?

A lady at work has just bought one.......relatively higher miler (80,000), she was a bit surprised to see it has had 7 owners since 2000!

I'm not going to relay any horror stories, I just told her today I though Audis were generally pretty bomb proof.........just curious to know if any one has first hand experince.....can comfirm or deny my opnion??

    cheers, :)

if my experience of the owner or a poor man's version of A3 (golf 4 TDI) is anything valid, neither age nor mileage is something to worry about. mine is from 2000, i am the second owner, i bought it 2,5 years old in 2003 with nearly 80,000 miles and i made another 80,000 since 2003. no any major problems, occasional minor electric problems (bulbs sometime go kaput but not often). maintainance not cheap with official mechanics so she has to find a good one alternatively.
but 7 owners in 7 years? is that some chinese superstition?!?!

This bit would certainly cause me concern.

i had the 2l A3 hatch, with flappy box, perfect car, no issues with it, servicing aint cheap and if it hasn't got a full manufacturer service history then with 7 owners it could be a dog.

even with the manufacturers service it could be a dog.

i had a demonstrater a3 sportback 2.0 tdi for a couple of days a few months ago. very quick, hard ride, not big enough, so low off the ground that you had to climb out of it. didn't buy one but if i didn't have two small children i would have done

The biggest problem with Audi's is the parts waiting list.

Can't see the point of the A3 from a buyers point of view. Might as well buy the Skoda or Seat and save a packet.

The Skodas and Seats are not the same car, regardless that they share the same platform and are VAG.

Exactly, why buy the Audi when the Seat and Skoda are built better?

Skoda's are amazing bargains. I'm on my second. It feels more substantial than my friends A3, and it's spent about 26 weeks less in the garage than another friends Leon :0

Badge snobbery is a terrible thing. It would appear that the best build quality in the VAG group comes from Skoda at present. Basically they're all the same car, just different suspension settings.

    Interesting comments.

My Dad (in his last yeras at work) ran a y plated audi coupe, replaced that with a B plate. (last of the 1921cc 5s .... not an 1800)

When i rolled my mk1 astra  i got the audi, then with 95000 miles. This was 1994.

I ran it to about 140000 (can't remember precisely now) year 2000 when, breifly, my Dads neighbour got it.

(My point is)In that time it didn't use a drop of oil ( i know...it must have used some.....), even when i forgot to service it (10000....... ) + very few probs......

I wonder how many cars of any make would have done that

Badges aside, the Audis (as far as I understand it) are always a few notches ahead regards spec, tech and especially interior quality (not necessarily build, but in terms of materials and finish). I stand to be corrected though.

I would also add that by 1999/2000 when I reluctantly relinquished use of the audi, the body work was still totally sound....except for (one) bubbling rear wheel arch.......on a 16 year old car

I know car body treatments have improved over what they were but we were suitable impressed at the time.
