Lately I have found I have been able to repair a lot of things that I would never have been attempted such as the toilet cystern (sp) needed a new halter arm and an adjustment to the water level, its fairly simple so I had a go and its working like new now.

I also recently extended the phone network by wiring an a cable into the BT main box and then installing another plug. I have never done it before and just worked it out, it was again very simple.

Today my dads machine he uses for his business broke and I took it apart and discovered one of the rocker switches had broken, it was a bit fidelly and involved part removing the pump housing but I managed to fix it, it would have been £60+vat to get it fixed else where and it cost me £3.40 for the switch at RS.

I am not sure why I am suddenly can fix these things without thinking twice or getting nervous about it. Is it just a confidence thing or do you just reach a certain age and suddently by magic find you can fix loads of stuff you would not have attempted before?

Sorry if this thread sounds odd.

aliens mate.... you see it on tv all the time. they come down and give you super powers or maybe just wipe your memory or shove a satellite dish up your arse. do you walk a bit funny and have to sit on a rubber inflatable doughnut at the moment?
either that or you've just been lucky not to electrocute, drown or electrocute and then drown yourself.
    cheers

I do know what I am doing though but my mum ask me where I did I learn all this stuff from and the answer was I didn't know. I guess you are born with it but it dosn't always show till later in life.

Don't worry I am not going to attempt to rewire my house because I know that is beyond my limits :p

Or is it too much of a job for a mere MOrtal like me and I'll need super AT to come to my resuce?

you could try. but make sure to capture it to web cam. that way you could sell the footage to fund a new pc, if not at least you'd have some stuff to post on b0g.
    cheers

You just end up getting totally pissed off paying tradesmen vast amounts of money to replace a grommet or a fuse! The only thing I haven't fixed is a toaster - don't know where to buy the elements.
