Best app for booking system?

I need to sort out a booking system to book training facilities, and I need it to keep things clear and simple. I was thinking of starting with a basic spreadsheet, but is there a better way of doing this, without having to buy another piece of bespoke software? I'm using MS Office at the mo'.

Any ideas appreciated.

Would have thought a diary package such as MS Outlook or similar will do the job. Set up each facility as an entity on the system and then just create the bookings as you would an appointment/meeting for a person. That way everyone in the workgroup can check availability and make bookings

yes - espcially if you use MS-exchange server and outlook as the email client - you can simply create a generic mailbox and share out the calendar for other to share...or indeed - create a public folder and grant access to that instead...
