Information:
Three-way floor-standing speakers have a reputation for being difficult to design successfully. But not the CM7. Thanks to four decades of Bowers & Wilkins engineering experience, and technology developed in tandem with our 800 Series, the CM7 respects no such reputation. The CM7 is a superbly accurate and revealing wide-bandwidth speaker system.
Like its CM siblings, the CM7's great strength is stereo music reproduction. A high technology, genuine three-way driver line-up, compromising a Kevlar/paper cone bass unit, Kevlar cone FST midrange unit and Nautilus tube-loaded aluminium dome tweeter. These endow the CM7 with an ability to portray musical scale from a whispered lyric to an orchestral crescendo without distortion or compression. The ear-tuned, low-order crossover circuits, made possible by the remarkably wide bandwidth of the CM7 drivers, ensure that music is portrayed as a seamless, cohesive whole. Flowport technology to minimise turbulence, and a bass driver featuring magnet system technology that reduces distortion, mean that CM7 bass is extended, fast and tuneful. An optional port sleeve that modifies the low frequency response allows positioning of the speaker right up close to walls without musical compromise. The CM7's Nautilus tweeter extends the top end all the way to 50kHz and beyond.
The CM7's tall, slim enclosure is a classically manufactured and exquisitely veneered expression of traditional cabinet making and provides a visually understated and mechanically rigid environment for the drivers. Real wood finishes in Wenge, Rosenut and Maple are available. Also, because the black or dark grey fabric grille is magnetically attached, removing it reveals no unsightly grille mounting features.
