You've just reminded me that I have a bundle of sticky feet in the basement. Nice one! I was wondering about hammerite. Maybe the emulsion we had for the walls may hold on the blocks too?

No. I want to raise the height of the drivers. New sofa basically and the arm of the sofa is a tad too high for my liking. So I'm raising the speakers slightly to give it some clearance.
