broken cd player

my cd player has stop working on and off over the last week

it sometimes skips while playing, sometimes doesnt spin the disc atall and sometimes just displays error on the screen.

i dont have a clue whats wrong with it and ive tryed a cd lens cleaning disc

its a marantz cd5400ose

anyone have an idea if its fixable and how?

I'm pretty sure the 5400 uses the same laser mech - it's a Marantz fave. In which case a fix could be pretty cheap.

you just need the pickup I expect .....my guess is £30 tops with next day delivery...if its the standard marantz transport ....
a kss213 is in the cd5001....
or could be vam2202/04 in cd 7300 1210/41 in cd6000

looks like it might be a write off then because i dont have time to fit new parts etc.

atleast i didnt pay the RRP of £200 for it to fail just after a year i suppose
