Do you have any pictures of the unit? Does it do digital passthrough?

It has two electrical digital inputs and one electrical digital output. Could this be a passthrough?

A detailed review of the Dacmagic 2i is at:

I still have a Dacmagic 3 that I use with DVD player and Freeview box to feed sound into the amp. Much better result than using analogue outputs.

I have close up pics of the rear panel on my hard drive but don't know if it is possible to load them here.

I have optical output from my computer and from my CD player, so I'm not sure if this would be suitable. I don't suppose you know if it'll convert an optical into coax signal for the purposes of dolby digital?

tom according to the manual it says "a digital output is also provided to allow onward connection to another digital component such as dat dcc mini disc or other digital recorder. simply connect the digital output on your dacmagic 2i to the digital input on your other component using an appropriate interconnect, specifically designed for 75 ohn digital use"
i`m supplying a ixos digital interconnect in with the dac ( so thats sorted for you).
could this be the digital passthrough you were taking about. :) :)
