Is the Audusa Eupen the best one to go for? reading the arguement at Audio Asylum, does this use the same cable they're talking about? What's the best price for it?

Is there a cheaper DIY alternative that works as well? Has anyone tried making Jon Risch's power cord? http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/ac-cords.htm

It's not long enough mate. Also, as the thread starter, can I just say that any more such posts will be ignored, so if you're not interested in power cables please ignore this thread.

Amongst those who believe in power cords, the Audusa Eupen is easily the best value for money at £48 for a 1m cable. However, I just sold all 6 of mine ;)

Michael, I think we just about know your position on power cords by now. No need to tell everyone at every single opportunity

    Hodgesaargh,

Try the eupen. It is cheap, effective and you can always send it back for a full refund if you dont like it.

Would everyone who agrees with me tell me so..
Doesn't sound like an informative conversation to me. Besides which, it's not YOUR personal board, H. If you want reassurance, ask for PM. This is a public information board, and those who have knowledge are perfectly entitled to post it.

I should have thought that the bloke who pays the bill for this place is entitled to answer your question especially in such a pleasant manner?

I would probably recommend the 05/2.5 version for a CD player. The 05/04, in my experience at least, caused the CD player to give a rather too full bass.

On the other hand, the 05/04 works well with my amplifier (but it is a 150 Watt beastie) and with my sub.

Robbo - I can't really see how you can take issue with my post

I gave what I consider to be helpful and honest advice which you more or less echoed. When people ask about DACs I still mention the DAC20 and what I think of it but also mention that I don't have one anymore, which I think is only fair.

I used Merlin "Black Widow" for a while which was very effective but have subsequnetly been relegated to my computer & TV. Now I use 6mm2 T&E (mains cable) plaited and resheaved which does the trick nicely.

Eupen are ok, I bought some from Michaelab for my brother's system, but I prefer VDH Mainsstream, sound a little brighter, good if you system is shy on highs...

if you want more than one, do as I did and get a length of KImber high current mains cable (unterminated ) from RA and stick the plugs on yourself, with some basic sleeving from an electrical supplier to cover it. if you wait for one on f the regular 10% off flyers, it works out about half the RA made-up costs. all those briaded cables are a bugger to get into the plugs however..

No. Would anyone who agrees with me care to recommend. That is what I was basically asking.

Sorry to have appeared rude in my reply lordsummit. It's just I got sick of arguing about cables years ago on AudioReview when mtrycrafts and Eyespy amoung others used to hang out there.

Is this a home-made? What stuff do I need? I would prefer to make one myself rather than pay a lot for a brand name.

I picked up 2 second hand Eupen's for 25 and 28 quid respectively. I truly maintain that they have really and clearly helped to bring the best out of my CD Player and amp so I personally fully recommend you give one (or two) a whirl. Caveat - opinion based on my own experiences.

    Try PMing WadiaMeister.

One thing you can say, he's tries more cables than anyone else I know.

ps If youre going to buy off the reel cable and wire it yourself, you can do that with your 4 way block if you want to aswell as the leads.

also might want to PM Zanash.

I know he opens up the 4 way blocks and replaces the brass plate connectors with cable. Good idea Ive never got round to.
