On the look out for a cheap but decent-ish cassette deck, not really sure on whats out there these days.

Buying on a whim to satisfy my re-srufaced love for demo's still being sold on cassettes :D

thanks!

i may know a guy with one to sell.. its a yamaha KX-393 i think, the one down from the classic 580 deck. Its a good slick looking and great sounding unit... i'll ask if he's parting with it.

I have the king of the budget decks going:

Aiwa AD-F450. Dolby B, C, HX Pro.

Yours for a tenner collected (huddersfield/oldham) or plus postage at cost. In original box. Cheap way to get you going with ok sound (it's no nakamichi).

Hi. Until recently, i had a Yam KX-396 and was seriously impressed by how good it was and how well specced it was. I would recommend one of these to anyone, and they can be had for silly money on ebay (i sold mine, absolutely mint for £8, wish i hadnt sold it now).

I've got a Nakamichi DR2 that's seen low to moderate use since I got it about 10 years ago, and almost none at all in the past 3-4 years. I paid £600 for it new, I suppose I'm looking for around £100, may haggle a bit. Probably not anyones idea of 'cheap', but I thought I'd mention it :D

BTW, if you're not familiar with Naks, it's a 3-head deck with a solid reputation for reliability and sound quality. I taped CDs onto TDK-MAX tapes and was hard-pressed to tell the difference between the CD and the tape. No kidding.

I've got a Nakamichi BX300 & a Cassette deck 1 both of which make mighty fine sounds.... or at least did the last time they were pressed into service a moon or two ago. Very reluctant to let them go for a song tho' as they are worth more to me than parting with them for just a little pocket money.
