I bought Natalie Imbruglia Counting Down The Days CD UK press on Virgin Records (2005) and the album is ok but the loudness seemed very loud when playing. So i decided to convert the flac rip into wav format and then loaded up in Adobe Audtion and i couldnt help but laugh there was hardly any space left i think this has to be one of the worst cases i have heard yet.

Also i bought Bananarama CD Deep Sea Skiving (1983) pressed in 1986 wow what a difference to the Natalie Imbuglia not clipped to hell and not even loudness at all, cds arn't made like they use to lol. :)

its a terrible desease within cd production these days

the normalisation and maxiumisation of levels is destroying any quality in the recording.

i ust wish people kew how to use a volume control and just turn the damn thing up if they wanted it louder

Yes it is unfortunate this goes on and spoiling our musical enjoyment. Whether its for the benefit of the Ipod brigade or just trying to out do other record labels, i don't know but it will kill it for true audiophiles.

As a bit of a guilty pleasure I bought Florence & the Machine's 'Lungs' as I love some of the tunes. And the red hair...

I can't play the damned thing as it is so shouty....I am really disappointed.

All other things being equal in blind tests people prefer the louder, equipment/music. So record execs think this is licence to make it as loud as the format can provide.

Thinking nothing of course of the fact this makes the music sound shit.

Her dad is a mate of mine and no you can't have an introduction!

I heard a radio broadcast of her performing live at some festival earlier in the year, sounded bloody awful without any studio trickery.
To prove my point

Yup - she really was sensational on the hootenanny. Ask her Dad if she could rig it so the record company put out the master for download - I'd take it (in lieu of an introduction!)

Hi,

She is famous for singing off key, she has done it quite a few times.
