CD Players CEC TL51XR vs TL53Z

Hi there,

I've made up my mind and decided to buy one of these 2 CEC players :D.
My first intention was to go for the TL51XR, but the recently released TL53Z make me wonder.

According to CEC Japan, both of them share the same transport part and the sound is clearer on the TL53Z since it has better DACs than the TL51XR.

1° Does this clearer sound make the TL53Z sound less warm than the TL51XR ?

2° Has anyone compared both players and can tell me about the sonic differences between both of them ?

3° Are the differences worth the price increase ?

you won't find anyone here who can answer these questions. maybe at some german boards - and far east of course.

I have listened to both of them.
The difference in sound, if any, does not justify the huge price difference.
So, my recommendation is TL51XR. An excellent CDP.

Thank you for your opinion ! However, could you be more precise as regards these differences ?

do these use the belt driven transports with the monster cd pucks? iirc the tl51 i listened to along with the dx71 dac did and the combination sounded amazingly good. don;t know about the specific comparison but i have a real soft spot for cec belt drives... good luck.

Actually, very simple.
The only difference, if there is one, I think I heard, is a tiny little bit more details on the more expensive one. Period.
I still don't think that, this is reason enough, to pay 25 % more.
But, of course, this is my subjective opinion.

Simple yes, belt drive.
Very exotic, isn't it?

Thank you again. This is close to what CEC Japan told me as well... And since the transport part is exactly the same, I think I'll remain on my first thoughts...

TL53Z (RCA) is clearly much better than TL51XR (RCA)
53Z has much better, strong, quite good controlled bass.
Highs are vivid, precise
Dynamics - maybe isn't spectacular but enough and better to 51XR.
Generally sound is still warm, clearer, more transparent, involving and cheerful.
Sounstage is fantastic - wide and deep

Anyway, TL53Z's sound isn't the same like TL51XR's sound !
