Changing speaker grilles, is it easy ?

    Hi,

    I would like to change the grilles on my sonus faber concertino's old ones are getting a little shabby.

    Is this an easy job ? any hints and tips ?

    Do you mean changing the cloth on the grilles? That should simply be a case of unfastening the old cloth, noting how it is fixed and stretched and replacing with the new cloth in the same manner.

    Changing the grilles themselves is just a matter of pulling the old ones off and putting new ones on. They attach with lugs at the four corners and are designed for easy removal.

    If you do a google, there are at least two 'how to' guides, and a couple of companies in the U.K. who have the material and the proper glue to do the job. You can mess about with colours too, I just redid my ProAc Tablette 50s in white, it was pretty easy.

    I cut the lugs of my grills couple were missing and glued a
    small rare earth magnet in there place i then screwed a smallish Hex.headed bolt in the hole where the lugs went. I have large speakers Wharfdale Opus 3. Used eight Magnets on
    each grill works perfectly. Noel W.
